Follow the links on the English 8-12 blog site for second semester, since both classes are fused together. Be good examples to the other class!

Reminder - critique due

Reminder the second quarter critique (book report) is due before January 17. It will not be accepted after January 17, the end of the semester. Use a literature book or literature/history based movie to critique. Follow the questions found on the critique that we used. If you chose a book or movie that qualifies for your critique assignment, then it counts for both. ( No oral reports accepted.) Any questions email me or give me a call.

Use checksheet on pg 80
Use all openers and as many dress-ups to raise grade level, yet keep paper smooth.
Mark dress-ups and sentence openers. and any other decorations you add.

Complete lesson 27: The Quality of Mercy
Due January 17 last day of class for semester! Cannot be LATE.
This writing is worth double points- make it your best writing.

Finish story from Richard III, either praising England or exposing the king.

Work on BOOK REPORT!
5 paragraphs first paragraph info on book, title, author type of book etc.
Use story sequence for the next 3 paragraphs just like you have been doing with stories. Paragraph 5 state what you liked about it or didn't like and whether you would recommend the book.

Work on portfolio.

Due Nov. 1
Portfolio.
Correct any mistakes on writings for the quarter.
Print out a copy without any markings or labeling. Put in a folder. Place the original copy behind the new one.

Complete lesson 11. Use the sentence openers and at least 5 dress-ups. Work for fluency, so it reads easy, yet uses the techniques. Do not use too many dress-ups. Don't use too much spice!
